Les Sables du Midi set in Languedoc France, about 800 metres from the sandy Mediterranean beach of Valras Plage, great for relaxing and soaking the sun.
Large Campsite, Friendly Atmosphere!
We stayed a week at this Campsite, which in May half-term was very quiet, and we were impressed with the facilities and friendly staff.
The caravan was basic but clean and comfortable, with everything we needed, and situated in an attractive shaded area. The surrounding trees brought birdsong and a secluded impression considering it's a large site. The facilities include two swimming pools, a small shop, a children's playground, two bars and restaurants serving snacks, pizza and salads. There's nightly entertainment that is OK if you speak fluent French, which we don't, however the caberet night and 'show' by the entertainment team are both well worth watching. The excellent British singer covers popular and well-known songs and the dance routines are great. Very good family entertainment. For those with children there's a kids club that is run by British and French staff.
The Campsite is close to a seaside town, where you can find small supermarkets, tourist shops and a host of restaurants that specialise in seafood, but where you can enjoy a variety of cuisine. The beach is fantastic! There's a bus stop right outside the camp with regular buses going to Beziers (the nearest airport is based here). You can walk around the interesting town or catch a train to Montpellier, Sete, and further afield like Barcelona! The camp is a fab location for exploring the area, which is even easier if you have a car, but we survived a week without one.
We didn't have wall to wall sunshine but that forced us to to take in the culture and explore more, we would love to visit again, just to enjoy the pools and beach more!
Nice holiday in the sun
Lovely campsite with everything you could need, our caravan was about a 10 minute walk to the big pool (about as far away as you can get!) but only a couple of minutes from the smaller pool and entertainment/bar. Have to get down to the pool as soon as it opens though to get decent sunbeds. Evening entertainment was as expected, slightly tacky but entertaining especially after a couple of drinks!
There's a local market and restaurants about a 10 minutes walk to the campsite, and a big beach just a further few minutes away.
